Cybher 2013

Today I experienced my first ever bloggers conference, Cybher.

Over the last week I have been up and down and well, round the houses (emotionally so to speak).

Having Bells Palsy, being a new mum, having to chuck my breast milk away because of medication, and well the list was never ending (ok, that’s a lie, I’m grossly exaggerating), so yesterday I was in a horrible mood, sad and down and mopey.

I’d booked to go on my first ever bloggers conference. I was nervous and excited. Apprehensive and slightly worried (think new kid at school) and the bad flat mood was unhelpful. I’d said to The Husband that I needed to snap out of the mood. I wanted to have a good time.

Then this morning, I woke up at 3:40, and then 4:30 and then stayed awake until it was time to get up at 5:45.

It was exciting! My first ever blogging conference, Cybher. With other real life actual bloggers who write stuff.

I loaded up the pram, got Emma sorted and chucked on some upbeat tunes and set off into London.

We arrived and got registered!

Despite my being worried about my wonky face from Bell’s Palsy, I turned to the woman next to me, and well, she had Bells Palsy too. Talk about a bloody coincidence! Things like this never happen to me! We were both very surprised and laughter ensued! Between the both of us we had a full face!

There were talks, coffee breaks, more talks, more coffee breaks and it was fabulous. Did I mention the coffee?

We (by we, I mean of course *I*) looked at branding, how to make things go viral, using photographs and lighting in your photos, how to make money from your blog and much more!

I spent a lot of time standing by plug sockets, ensuring that my iPhone was charged, god forbid I ever be without it. I’m very surprised that Twitter didn’t chuck me in the slammer for excessive tweeting (also hit the 1000 follower mark!)

The main session that I really wanted to attend was “Sh*t you didn’t Know” and ironically I spent most of the session in the baby changing rooms changing, well, shit. The irony, not lost on me was pretty hilarious.

Lunch was awesome. In fact it was so awesome I posted about it here an hour after it happened. Small food!!! I love food and I love small things!
The food at Cybher rocked.
Wee tiny sliders with Brie and caramelised onions.
Teeny fish with chips and minty mushed peas.
Asian baskets with tempura veg, samosas, won tons and filo parcels.
Beet root and goats cheese salad bowls (didn’t eat that on account of I hate goats cheese).
Mini bowls of fruit salad.
Cute little dessert that looked pretty but I have no idea what it actually was.

There were more talks.
I took photos of stuff. Tried to be artsy fartsy. (I think it worked)

I made new friends.
I learnt new things.
I picked up tips.
I had a GREAT time.

The cocktail hour was pretty awesome (with more small food!) and fabulous company.

After a long and amazing day, Emma and I headed home, knackered.

Cybher was a fantastic conference and I loved every single bit of it.

I haven’t felt so alive and passionate for blogging in a while. Attending has reignited me and pulled me back (without the need for drugs) into a colourful and bright world.

Over all it was easily the best money I’ve spent and I’m definitely buying my Cybher14 ticket as soon as they go on sale.

I want to express a HUGE thank you to the organisers and speakers.

I really enjoyed my day and I can’t wait until next year!
